The pump is open every day, except for Thursday between 8:00 am - 15:00 pm because then everybody is going to the market and surveillance cannot be guaranteed. Before the pump was built, they fetched water in the river. The biggest change in their lives is the improvement in health. They don’t have diarrhea and pain in their stomach anymore.

They collect 200 ariary per household per month. The committee only meets when there is a problem to discuss, but with all the villagers. The pump only broke down once.

The only challenge they have encountered is that when the pump was built, there were people who did not want to help because the thought the pump was too far away. But now everybody takes part in the adidy.

The pump has increased fihavanana because we all feel very connected now. As one lady explained:

“Each woman leaves her house alone, but when she arrives at the pump she will wait for other women to arrive. While waiting for each other we talk about very joyful things and this gives us a lot of happiness. We discuss everything”.
